August 17, 2012 - 12 Weeks!!!

Today we are 12 weeks!!!

New this week: The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.

From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over 2 inches long and weighs half an ounce.

You're the size of a lime!

12 Weeks

August 10, 2012 - 11 Weeks!

Today we are 11 weeks!!!

New this week: You're just over 1 1/2 inches long and now almost fully formed. Your hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under your gums, and some of your bones are beginning to harden.

You've already been busy kicking and stretching, and your tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as your body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won't feel your baby's acrobatics for another month or two — nor will you notice the hiccupping that may be happening now that her diaphragm is forming.

You're the size of a fig! 

August 3, 2012 - 10 Weeks!

Today we are 10 weeks!!!

New this week: You have now completed the most critical portion of your development! This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in his body rapidly grow and mature.

He's swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm. Vital organs — including his kidneys, intestines, brain, and liver (now making red blood cells in place of the disappearing yolk sac) — are in place and starting to function, though they'll continue to develop throughout your pregnancy.

If you could take a peek inside your womb, you'd spot minute details, like tiny nails forming on fingers and toes (no more webbing) and peach-fuzz hair beginning to grow on tender skin.

In other developments: Your baby's limbs can bend now. His hands are flexed at the wrist and meet over his heart, and his feet may be long enough to meet in front of his body. The outline of his spine is clearly visible through translucent skin, and spinal nerves are beginning to stretch out from his spinal cord. Your baby's forehead temporarily bulges with his developing brain and sits very high on his head, which measures half the length of his body. From crown to rump, he's about 1 1/4 inches long. In the coming weeks, your baby will again double in size — to nearly 3 inches.

July 27, 2012 - 9 weeks

Today we are 9 weeks!!!

New this week: She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. (woo hoo!) Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain.

July 20, 2012 - 8 weeks

Today we are 8 weeks!!!

New this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways.

The second best news since finding out about you...Baby Burdick is on the way too!!!!  You guys are 3 weeks apart...soooo fun for us mommies!  I can't wait to experience this with her all the way through!

We went to have Cantina Laredo and mommy is not feeling so hot.  Tonight was the first night of getting sick...yuck!  It wasn't too bad.  I think riding in the car is what gets me...gotta be the driver...I'm sure dad will LOVE this!  NOT!  Oh well, gotta do, what I gotta do :) 

1.5 weeks til we go to the doctor...I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!

July 13, 2012 - 7 Weeks

Today, we are 7 WEEKS!!! 

Big news: Hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs.  You have doubled in size since last week!

Tonight we told GrandMa & GrandPa at dinner with Jilly and uncle Eric.  Dad was telling GrandMa that we were looking at homes this coming weekend because come March 1st, our home will be too small.  She quickly picked up on it and said "what's happening March 1st?"  When we told her, she started to cry...it was sooo sweet!  And GrandPa, was soooo excited to!  You will make grand-child number 16!!!

OH MY GOSH...Jilly's reaction couldn't have been ANY better!  I have attached the video for you to see one day.  She was sooooooo excited.  I can't wait for the two of you to meet.  She might not ever let you go.  Sorry about that :)

I wrote a note on the inside of the book from you to Jilly and she originally thought the book was from/for Jackson, so she was just reading along not thinking anything.  The funny part, uncle Eric knew as soon as he saw the book and just sat back and waited for it to finally click with Jilly.  Too funny!!!

Okay, starting to feel a little more sick in between meals, so I'm starting to pack snacks with me on the go!

I'm so excited to meet you, but still so nervous.  (I'm anxiously awaiting my appointment in 3 weeks to hear your heart beat!)

Sooo...tonight we told your big brothers the news.  Actually, Jackson guessed the news and whew...they're VERY excited to meet you!  In fact, they were already thinking of names for you.  Very sweet.

Today I'm headed to Barnes and Noble to get a book for Jilly as our way of telling her about you.  We told her that we got her something from San Diego...tricky tricky.  I CAN'T WAIT to tell her!!!

Okay, got the book.  It's actually a book for her to fill out and give back to you, so you have a way to know all about her! 

July 6, 2012 - 6 Weeks

Today, we are 6 WEEKS!!!  

This weeks major developments: Your nose, mouth and ears are beginning to take shape.  Your heart is beating 100-160 times a minute!

You're the size of a lentil bean!  

Well, as they said...nausea may begin to set in...and I think it's starting.  I celebrated today with Talia and all her bridesmaids in San Diego at her bridal luncheon.  Before lunch was served, I started to not feel so well, but as soon as lunch came, I felt better.

Happy birthday Abby & Anna!

We had the twins party tonight at GrandMa's and GrandPa's and I think uncle Jeremy has an idea about you.  He came up to me offering me his drink and when I said no, he gave me a smirk.  To be honest, I'm thinking the others are catching on.  I'm sure tomorrow (July 4th) will be difficult to hide you at Kevin and Laura's.

Man, my endurance and energy level is really deteriorating!  Running the warm up 800 meter run at Cross fit is HARD for me now.  And to be honest, the thought of running really sucks right now and seems impossible!

First day of Hoop it Up...a bit nervous as we're playing against ALL men!  And most of them are over 6'0"...ugh!

Of course I played more than I wanted, but as soon as I started to feel light -headed, I subbed out.  I think you did just great!

I told Kristen and Braden today.  No more until Jilly.  I just want to make it extra special for Jilly!  Aunt Kristen started tearing up, she knows how much I have wanted you and is sooo happy it's happening.  You and Braden will be right at a year apart!

Today I told the first person about you...Aunt Sarah Burdick.  I know I'm suppose to wait, but it was too hard to keep it in.  Sarah was soooo excited, that it felt so good and got me even more excited.  She immediately started answering questions from her book that her doctor gave her "1,000 questions when your expecting".  She and Zack are trying to, that would be so great if we were expecting at the same time!!!

This coming weekend me and dad are playing in Hoop it Up and I'm starting to feel a little anxious about doing it.  My doctor said to just be careful, but we're playing in the men's division.  I don't want to do anything to jeopardize your health...I'll try to take it easy.  

 I'm starting to feel a little cramps and my ovary is sore...ugh!  A little worried about that, but since it has always been a bit sore, I think all is okay.  


Other symptoms you are causing:  
My boobs are HUGE and SORE!!!!  That seemed to happen IMMEDIATELY!  Sorry for the details...ha!

Today I called Dr. McClintock to make our first pre-natal appointment.  We're set for Monday, July 30th at 2:45PM...that is the first time we will hear your heart beat!

I'm so anxious to meet you and to tell Jilly about you.  I hope all goes well with you and this pregnancy as I would love to give Jilly and the rest of the family some happy news and something to look forward to.  Losing Poppy has been absolutely awful, but gaining you will be WONDERFUL!

I'M PREGNANT!!!

Hi lil one!
Today I got my first positive pregnancy test...oh my!!!  I can hardly believe it.  We're leaving for Vegas today to celebrate your uncle Kevin's 40th birthday.  Crazy story...your aunt Laura called me earlier this week saying she had a dream I was pregnant in Vegas and couldn't drink.  Man was she right!!!  I'm not quite ready to tell the crowd, since i'm only about 4 weeks along, so i'll have to be sneaky this weekend and order lots of virgin drinks and sprite with limes!


Finding out we're pregnant is sooooo exciting and a little bitter sweet.  See 3 weeks ago, your poppy passed away very unexpectedly and it's been really hard on your mom.  In fact, I kinda thought we might take a break from trying, at least for a couple of months til the wound of poppy passing isn't so fresh, and of course...the month we think to maybe take a break, here you come!  Yay!!!


I have literally taken a pregnancy test every day so far...Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday and all still say PREGNANT!

March 1st, 2013 is our expected due date!!!
